1/25/09 Meeting at my house!

Here we are at our latest GSE meeting. We had a ball getting more specific about our presentation and discussing more details about our trip. Our goal for our next meeting (2/8/09 in Boone @ Michael's house) is to have our medical and insurance forms turned in and to have a rough draft of our presentation.

Article About Chile

My grandmother found an interesting article about Santiago. It's great that my family and friends have their radars out for information to support my trip.

It won't be summer when we're there as the title suggests. It will be fall and we anticipate that the weather will be similar to what it is in WNC that time of year. We'll just have to see!

Tomorrow is the first day of the semester at school. I'll be telling my students that I'm going to Chile. Wonder what they'll think?

Vamos a Chile

I am sooooo excited about our upcoming trip to Chile! As a Rotary GSE team we will represent Rotary District 7670 from Western North Carolina and spend one month in the Santiago area from April 14th-May 15th.

While we are there we will do presentations (in Spanish!) at numerous Rotary clubs and visit different vocational sites. I am really looking forward to immersing myself in the Spanish language again and meeting new people. I am also looking forward to trying real Chilean empanadas.

Our team members are (L to R): Melinda, me, Erin, Mike, Michael and our team leader Stan. We had our first meeting with the whole team yesterday and will meet every other week until we depart. I´ll keep you posted on our progress. Next step: prepare our presentation.
